October 04, 2025: Mumbai’s Central Railway has announced a scheduled nighttime traffic block between Parel and Byculla stations to carry out crucial infrastructure work. The block will take place from 12:30 am to 4:30 am on October 5, 2025, affecting services on the UP fast line. Officials clarified that the timings have been chosen overnight to minimize inconvenience to regular suburban commuters.
The project involves converting DSS point number 127A at Byculla station from a 52 kg section to a 60 kg section, a technical upgrade aimed at improving operational safety and strengthening the suburban network.
The block will directly affect two long-distance trains. The Bhubaneswar–CSMT Konark Express (Train No. 11020) and the Howrah–CSMT Express (Train No. 12810) will terminate at Dadar instead of CSMT. Passengers are advised to make alternate travel arrangements for the remaining stretch of their journey.
In addition, other late-running Mail/Express trains and special services scheduled during the period may face short-termination, regulation, or delays depending on operational requirements.
Central Railway has appealed for public cooperation during this period. In a statement, the administration said, “These blocks are essential for maintaining safe and efficient train operations. We request passengers to cooperate with the administration during this period.”
The railway emphasized that such planned blocks are critical for the long-term reliability and safety of Mumbai’s busy suburban and long-distance rail services.
As part of ongoing infrastructure initiatives, the Central Railway continues to implement targeted upgrades across the network, reinforcing its commitment to smoother, safer, and more efficient train operations. Passengers have been advised to stay updated on any further announcements regarding train schedules.
