PM Modi To Inaugurate Navi Mumbai Airport And Metro Line-3 During Two-Day Mumbai Visit

October 08, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Mumbai on Wednesday for a two-day visit packed with major infrastructure inaugurations, fintech collaborations, and diplomatic engagements. The visit will see the launch of two landmark projects — the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Phase 2B of the fully underground Mumbai Metro Line-3 — as well as key meetings with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

At 3 pm, PM Modi will tour the newly constructed NMIA site in Navi Mumbai, followed by its formal inauguration at 3:30 pm. He will also dedicate other Mumbai-based infrastructure projects, including the concluding phase of Metro Line-3, to the nation. According to a PMO release, “On Thursday (October 9) PM will host Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer in Mumbai at 10 am. At around 1:40 pm, Prime Ministers of both countries will attend the CEO Forum at Jio World Centre, Mumbai. Thereafter, at around 2:45 pm, both of them will attend the 6th edition of the Global Fintech Fest. They will also deliver keynote addresses at the fest.”

The NMIA, developed under a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model for Rs 19,850 crore, will serve as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s second international airport. Designed for future scalability, it will eventually handle up to 90 million passengers annually and 3.25 million metric tonnes of cargo.

Modi will also inaugurate Phase 2B of the Rs 12,200-crore Mumbai Metro Line-3, connecting Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade, completing the 33.5 km Aqua Line that will serve 13 lakh commuters daily.

During the visit, he will also launch “Mumbai One,” an integrated mobility app for 11 public transport operators, and the Short-Term Employability Programme (STEP), aimed at skilling youth in emerging technologies such as AI, IoT, EVs, and solar energy.
