October 30, 2025: The Mumbai Traffic Police have announced major traffic diversions in the Sakinaka Traffic Division to facilitate ongoing construction work for Metro Line 6 between Milindnagar and Ganeshghat Selfie Point on the Jogeshwari–Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR). The traffic changes will remain in effect from November 5, 2025, to January 15, 2026, to ensure public safety and smooth vehicular movement during the Metro construction.
According to an official order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic–Eastern Suburbs) Pradeep Chavan, the diversions are necessary for Elements Launching work being carried out by Eagle Infra India Ltd. During this period, the northbound service road of the L&T Flyover on JVLR — between A.M. Naik Tower Road and Saki Vihar Road — will be closed to all traffic. Vehicles will instead be rerouted via the northbound JVLR at Ganeshghat Selfie Point, passing under Rambagh Bridge, taking a U-turn, and heading southbound towards Powai Junction and Saki Vihar Road.
In a related update, traffic restrictions have also been announced on the Bhandup–Sonapur section of the Goregaon–Mulund Link Road (GMLR) to facilitate construction of Mumbai Metro Line 4. The decision follows the successful test run of a 10-km stretch of the line in Thane on September 22.
Officials said a 56-metre-long steel span will be installed at the GMLR Junction on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, requiring heavy cranes and multi-axle trailers. Road closures are planned for November 1 (10 pm–10 am) and November 2 (10 pm–7 am), with contingency closures on November 8–9. From November 3 to December 31, one lane at the LBS Road junction may remain partially closed.
Commuters are advised to follow diversion signs, use alternate routes, and cooperate with authorities to minimise congestion during the Metro construction period.
