January 27, 2026: Motorists travelling on the Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Mahamarg should be prepared for brief traffic interruptions later this month, as the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has announced scheduled stoppages between January 27 and January 31, 2026. The temporary restrictions are linked to the installation of infrastructure under the Highway Traffic Management System aimed at strengthening safety and monitoring on the high-speed corridor.
The work involves setting up gantries, which are overhead structures used to support traffic surveillance, regulation, and emergency response systems. According to MSRDC, these installations form part of a broader plan to enhance traffic management and operational efficiency on the expressway.
The affected stretch covers a significant portion of the route, beginning at kilometre 90+500 and extending up to kilometre 170+400. Locations within this zone include Dhamangaon Railway, Chandur Railway, and Nandgaon Khandeshwar in Amravati district, along with sections of Karanja (Lad) in Washim district. Commuters passing through these areas during the five days may experience delays.
MSRDC has explained that the gantry installation will be executed in 12 phases spread across the scheduled days. During each phase, traffic on the concerned carriageway near the work site will be completely halted. Each stoppage is expected to last between 45 minutes and one hour, after which traffic movement will resume once the work at that point is completed. The authority has clarified that there will be no full-day closure of the expressway, and disruptions will remain limited to specific locations and time slots.
The corporation said that these controlled stoppages are essential to ensure the safety of workers and to allow precise installation of the gantries on the fast-moving highway. Planning has been undertaken to minimise inconvenience to road users.
Motorists have been advised to plan their travel, allow additional time for journeys, and follow instructions issued by traffic personnel on site. MSRDC has urged commuters to remain patient, noting that the temporary measures are intended to improve long-term safety and traffic management on the expressway.
