The state cabinet approved the formal handing over of 33,000 sq feet land at Dharavi to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL) for ancillary activities.The plot was initially handed over to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority which had temporarily handed it over to MMRCL for the construction of the Dharavi metro station

Dharavi metro station which is part of the 33 km underground Metro Line 3 from Aarey to Cuffe Parade.The underground station is at the T junction between Dharavi and the road bridge that connects the slum to the Bandra-Kurla Complex. “We have constructed an electric sub-station on the plot and various other ancillaries. The land has been in our physical possession but the formal handover required a cabinet decision
