The first phase of the Mumbai Metro 7A tunnelling project, which will link Gundavali and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), has begun. The red line or Metro 7 (Dahisar cast to Gundavali) is extended by Metro 7A. Utilizing the first Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), T62, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the civil contractor started excavation work on Friday.

The first drive will likely be finished in a month, followed by the last drive. By May 2024, the complete tunnelling project is expected to be finished. A seamless transition from the underground metro line to the elevated metro line is ensured by the tunnelling procedure, which involves depths varying from 28 meters to 12 meters below ground level.
