MahaRERA directs real estate developer to reimburse flat buyer of ₹66 lakh, plus interest

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has ordered a renowned property developer to return ₹66 lakh that was accepted from the buyer together with interest for not finishing the project by the deadline indicated on the RERA website, which is a huge relief for a homebuyer.

Buyers filed three complaints against Nirmal Lifestyle, the developer, claiming they were not given their money back because the company did not give them possession of the apartments on time. Despite having paid over 50% of the entire consideration cost, none of the three complainants had received their booked ready flats. Two of these complaints, however, were rejected by the authority because they lacked supporting documentation and had maintainability problems.
