Thane: No arrests made in connection with the ₹200 crore MHADA Redevelopment Scam; Chitalsar Police Books 13 From Real Estate Company

Thirteen individuals from a real estate company have been arrested by the Chitalsar police for their roles in irregularities pertaining to the reconstruction of structures on MHADA land between 2014 and 2019. As of yet, no one has been arrested.

In the First Information Report, Arun Tayade, the complainant, claimed that the company had not gotten consent from MHADA or the society’s members. After mortgaging the documents to renovate ten (societies’) properties, they obtained a loan of Rs 200 crore. But according to the FIR, it didn’t initiate the development and utilized the financing for private gain.

On August 22, Thane police announced that thirteen people had been charged with involvement in irregularities related to the reconstruction of buildings on MHADA land, with a possible value of Rs 200 crore.

Tayade claimed that the head of one of the housing associations provided the NOC for this mortgage. According to Tayade, the developer company and ten societies, home to 348 members, inked a development agreement. But only the plinth—the ground floor’s foundation—has been built. We spoke with the devs, but they ignored us.
