The Mumbai Metro Red Line 9 to Mira Road, Thane district’s first metro rail, is scheduled to begin testing this week. The track is now prepared for train trials after the overhead wires were turned on and charged on Saturday. It is probable that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would flag off the marathon. Red Line 7 from Andheri-Dahisar to Mira-Bhayandar is extended by Metro Line 9.
In the first phase, it will allow a direct Metro connection between Andheri (WEH) and Kashimira, while in the second phase, it will reach Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Bhayandar (West).Since the MMRDA intended to energise the Metro’s 25,000v overhead traction wires on May 10 over a 4.973-kilometer span, it issued an advisory last week asking people to use caution along the Metro Line 9 corridor (Dahisar to Kashigaon).
In order to prepare for public commissioning, the trains will undergo extensive dynamic testing after this energisation, including trials of vital systems such train movement, signalling, communication, and safety procedures. The current Mira Road station on the Western Railway is roughly 1.4 km from the Kashimira Metro stop. Due to implementation and land-related issues, a number of Metro projects in the MMR experienced delays.
To remove these obstacles and resume halted progress, MMRDA has taken targeted action. Our strategy is straightforward: activate finished sections of the corridor without waiting for the entire length. This approach is best demonstrated by the forthcoming dynamic testing on Metro Line 9. We’re speeding up access to a contemporary, ecological, and safe means of transit through phased commissioning. These initiatives are a component of our broader plan, “Mumbai in Minutes,” which aims to provide the area with dependable, smooth, and quick connection, stated Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, MMRDA’s metropolitan commissioner.
