June 19, 2025: While welcoming the swift progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor, the Marathi Bandhkam Vyavsayik Mahasangh (MBVM) has urged the government to immediately prioritise infrastructure development in the Morbe region. Positioned to become a crucial junction for both major projects, Morbe currently lacks the basic road connectivity required to support future traffic and industrial activity.
MBVM has called for the urgent construction of service roads, Development Plan (DP) roads, and a vital four-lane connector road linking the Morbe Interchange to Taloja MIDC. These measures, the association emphasised, are essential to prevent future congestion and to support the region’s potential as an industrial and logistics hub.
While commending the Central and State governments for their commitment to two nationally significant infrastructure initiatives, MBVM cautioned that failure to act swiftly in Morbe could compromise their long-term benefits.
According to the association, the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway will terminate near Morbe village in Panvel taluka, which is set to intersect with the Virar-Alibaug Corridor—placing Morbe at the heart of a growing industrial zone.
Prakash Baviskar, General Secretary of the Federation, stated: “Traffic and economic activity in Morbe are set to grow exponentially once both corridors are operational. We appeal to CIDCO-NAINA and the government to begin the necessary roadworks without delay.”
MBVM has recommended the immediate construction of a 6-km, four-lane bituminous concrete (BC) road connecting the Morbe Interchange to Taloja MIDC, as outlined in CIDCO-NAINA’s approved Development Plan. This road would provide crucial connectivity to the JNPT port and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
The association also urged CIDCO-NAINA and government authorities to commence all pending DP roads and associated service roads without further delay. Additionally, they stressed the need for coordinated funding and timely approvals through Central-State collaboration. MBVM further requested that toll plaza planning account for local resident concessions and ensure seamless access to proposed smart townships and logistics hubs.
The organisation asserted that with prompt action, Morbe could emerge as a major economic hub, avoiding traffic congestion and facilitating smooth, efficient connectivity.
