Tesla Set To Supercharge Mumbai’s EV Future, Says CM Fadnavis

July 15, 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has hailed Tesla’s official entry into the Indian market as a significant step towards transforming Mumbai’s electric vehicle (EV) landscape. His remarks came during the inauguration of Tesla’s first ‘Experience Centre’ in Mumbai — a showroom aimed at introducing Indian consumers to the American EV manufacturer’s premium offerings.

Speaking to the media at the launch event, Fadnavis highlighted the broader implications of Tesla’s arrival. “Tesla’s decision to set up its first showroom in Mumbai marks a major milestone, not just for the city but for India’s growing EV sector,” he said. “The company is not only introducing its products but is also working on a comprehensive ecosystem for delivery, logistics, and servicing.”

One of the key announcements made was Tesla’s plan to install four major charging stations across Mumbai. According to the Chief Minister, these installations will significantly contribute to building a wide-reaching and accessible charging infrastructure in the city — a critical step in enabling a seamless transition to electric mobility.

Fadnavis also expressed pride in Maharashtra being chosen for Tesla’s debut in India. He underscored that the state is quickly establishing itself as a national hub for EV innovation and mobility. “With progressive policies, incentives for manufacturing, and a clear focus on infrastructure, Maharashtra is becoming a preferred destination for global mobility leaders,” he noted.

The entry of Tesla is expected to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and bolster Mumbai’s efforts to become a greener, more sustainable metropolis. As the demand for EVs continues to grow, investments like these are likely to pave the way for future technological advancements and greater industry participation in India’s clean energy ambitions
