Ring Road Planned For Vasai As CM Orders Fresh DPR Amid Growing Traffic Concerns

July 17, 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the preparation of a fresh Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a proposed Ring Road in Vasai tehsil of Palghar district. The move aims to address the increasing traffic congestion and infrastructure challenges in the Vasai-Virar urban region, which is part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Fadnavis and attended by Palghar MP Dr. Hemant Savra, Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal, Vasai MLA Sneha Dube-Pandit, Nalasopara MLA Rajan Naik, and officials from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC), and MBVV Police Commissionerate.

Dube-Pandit noted that the earlier route proposed for the Ring Road has seen significant construction activity, necessitating a fresh survey. “The Chief Minister ordered that a new DPR of the Ring Road should be prepared with the help of MMRDA and the process of acquiring the currently vacant road should be started immediately,” she said.

She also raised concerns about severe traffic congestion and lack of parking in Vasai-Virar. “The Chief Minister ordered to examine the feasibility of this proposal and table it accordingly,” she added.

In addition to the Ring Road, Dube-Pandit highlighted that proposals for seven key flyovers and road projects in the area have been pending with MMRDA for years. These include Range Office Chowk, Vasant Nagri, Evershine Gokhivare Road, and the stretch from Manikpur Naka to Bhabola Naka. “The Chief Minister ordered to immediately obtain information about the areas where 100% land has been acquired and provide funds for these projects,” she said.

The Ring Road, once implemented, is expected to enhance connectivity, alleviate congestion, and facilitate urban expansion in the rapidly growing Vasai-Virar region.
