NMMC Demolishes Illegal Structure In Koparkhairane

August 1, 2025: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has intensified its action against unauthorised constructions, carrying out a demolition drive in the Koparkhairane division after repeated non-compliance with civic notices. The operation targeted an illegal structure owned by Mr. Abdul Aziz A Rajak Patel, located at House No. 23, near the lake in Khairnegaon, Koparkhairane.

The demolition was executed by the NMMC’s encroachment department under the directives of Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, with supervision from Additional Commissioner (2) Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr. Kailas Gaikwad. Officials confirmed that the property had earlier received a notice under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966. With no action taken by the owner, this marked the third demolition attempt against the illegal structure.

A focused removal operation was organised for the property. On-site supervision was provided by Assistant Commissioner and divisional officer Mr. Bharat U Dhande and Junior Engineer Mr. Chandrakant Dhotre, alongside municipal staff and security arrangements by the municipal police. The demolition involved 12 labourers, one pickup van, and a Poklan machine to ensure smooth and effective execution.

Despite repeated notices, the unauthorised construction remained until this successful demolition, underscoring the civic body’s firm approach to tackling illegal structures.

Officials stated that similar operations will continue across Navi Mumbai. The civic authority’s stance is clear: it will pursue strict measures to eliminate encroachments and unauthorised constructions.

NMMC emphasized that future drives will be carried out with the same assertiveness, as part of its broader mission to maintain urban discipline and safeguard planned city development. By reinforcing legal measures and deploying targeted operations, the civic body aims to deter repeat violations and ensure compliance with urban planning norms.
