August 2, 2025: Tesla is set to strengthen its footprint in India with the launch of its first charging station, scheduled to open on August 4, 2025 at One BKC, Mumbai. This follows the recent inauguration of Tesla’s first showroom in the city, with a second outlet expected soon in Delhi. The upcoming charging hub will feature four V4 Supercharging stalls (DC chargers) and four Destination Charging stalls (AC chargers). The V4 Superchargers will offer peak charging speeds of up to 250 kW, priced at Rs 24 per kW, while the AC units will charge at 11 kW, costing Rs 11 per kW.
Tesla claims that the Model Y can gain up to 267 kilometres of range in just 15 minutes of supercharging—sufficient, the company says, for five round trips between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and the Gateway of India. Tesla owners simply need to plug in their vehicles to begin charging. The Tesla app allows users to check stall availability, monitor charging progress, receive alerts, and make payments—all in real-time.
The Tesla Model Y, now available in India, is offered in both Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long Range RWD variants. Prices begin at Rs 59.89 lakh for the standard RWD version and Rs 67.89 lakh for the long-range model. The respective on-road prices are Rs 61.07 lakh and Rs 69.15 lakh.
The RWD Model Y is available with either a 60 kWh or a 75 kWh battery pack, powered by a single electric motor generating around 295 horsepower. Tesla reports that the 60 kWh version offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 500 km, while the long-range model can deliver up to 622 km on a full charge. This milestone marks a key step in India’s EV infrastructure journey.
