Shiv Sena (UBT) Seeks Action On Deteriorating Police Housing In Navi Mumbai

August 5, 2025: Raising serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of police housing in Navi Mumbai, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) has made a strong appeal for the immediate redevelopment of several police colonies across the city.

Following a site inspection of colonies in Belapur, Vashi, Turbhe MIDC, and Rabale MIDC, the party delegation emphasised the urgent need to provide safe, modern, and dignified living conditions for police personnel and their families.

The team found that many of these housing blocks are in an alarming state of disrepair, plagued by water leakage, crumbling infrastructure, and the absence of basic safety measures. Some colonies, such as those in Turbhe and Rabale MIDC, were described as entirely unfit for habitation.

Led by Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Vitthal More, the delegation submitted formal representations to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner, Police Commissioner, and the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO. The party has demanded comprehensive structural audits and immediate infrastructure assessments, with a view to launching redevelopment efforts through bodies like MHADA, SRA, or CIDCO.

“This is not merely a matter of buildings—it concerns the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of those who protect us every day,” said Deputy City Chief Sameer Bagwan. He reiterated the party’s demand for swift action to replace the ageing colonies with properly planned, well-equipped housing.

Several senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders were present during the submission, including Navi Mumbai Liaison Chief M.K. Madavi, Airoli District Chief Pravin Mhatre, Belapur District Chief Prakash Patil, and former corporator Vishal Sasane. The delegation collectively urged authorities to prioritise the living conditions of police personnel, stressing that neglecting their housing is a disservice to their commitment and service to the city.
