Metro 7A To Provide Faster, Traffic-Free Dahisar–Airport Connectivity

August 9, 2025: If Mumbai Metro Line 7 — running from Dahisar East to Gundavali (Andheri East) — has already eased your commute, there is more good news. The upcoming Metro Line 7A, an extension of Line 7 from Gundavali to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) Terminal 2, promises even greater convenience for travellers.

Once operational, Metro 7A will offer a direct, traffic-free connection between Dahisar and the airport in just around 50 minutes, bypassing the often-congested Western Express Highway. The extension is designed to integrate seamlessly with other metro corridors, enhancing connectivity across the city’s rapidly expanding rail network.

Metro 7A will have a total length of 3.42 km. Of this, 0.94 km will be elevated, running along the Western Express Highway, while the remaining 2.11 km will be underground, passing beneath the Sahar Elevated Road and several sensitive utilities. The line will have two stations. The first, Airport Colony, will be an elevated stop serving as an intermediate halt before the airport.

The second, CSMIA Terminal 2, will be an underground station directly connected to Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line), allowing passengers to transfer easily between the airport and key city locations.

This extension is expected to significantly improve airport accessibility, particularly for commuters from Mumbai’s western suburbs, who currently rely heavily on road transport. Once completed, passengers will be able to transfer between Metro 7A, Metro Line 7, and the under-construction Metro Line 3, enabling quicker journeys across both north–south and east–west corridors. The new link is also likely to reduce pressure on road networks and help cut vehicular emissions.

With construction progressing on both elevated and underground sections, Metro 7A is set to become a crucial addition to Mumbai’s transport infrastructure, ensuring faster, smoother, and more reliable travel between the suburbs and the airport.
