MMRDA To Redevelop E-Block In Bandra Kurla Complex With Rs 18,000 Crore Boost

September 4, 2025: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has given the green light to the redevelopment of buildings in the E-Block of Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), which were built nearly 30 years ago. The redevelopment is expected to generate around ₹18,000 crore through the sale of Floor Space Index (FSI), a major boost to the authority’s revenues.

E-Block houses key offices, including those of the Income Tax Department, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and MMRDA itself. Earlier, the authority had indicated plans to create a master plan for redeveloping 28 commercial and 10 residential buildings in this section of BKC, reinforcing its position as Mumbai’s premier business district.

In addition to the redevelopment, MMRDA has sanctioned the construction of a 550-metre-long hanging pedestrian bridge connecting City Park in BKC with the Maharashtra Nature Park, aimed at improving pedestrian connectivity and urban mobility.

The authority has also approved a new policy that allows private developers to link their projects with upcoming Mumbai Metro stations, enhancing last-mile connectivity. Furthermore, recreational spaces identified as RG-6, RG-19, and RG-23 in G-Block will be developed by an appointed agency under a Design, Finance, Build, Operate, and Transfer (DFBOT) model.
