NMMC Conducts Demolition Drive Against Unauthorised Constructions In Ghansoli And Koparkhairane

September 11, 2025: The anti-encroachment department of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carried out demolition operations in Ghansoli and Koparkhairane after property owners failed to comply with official notices. The drive was conducted under the direction of Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde, with Additional Commissioner (2) Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr Kailas Gaikwad supervising the proceedings.

In Ghansoli, the action targeted an unauthorised structure at House No. 166, Rabale, Salvinagar, owned by Ratan Rama Mhatre and developed by Rajendra Shankar Pawar. The construction had proceeded without prior approval from the civic body. Despite instructions to remove the work voluntarily, construction continued. The demolition team deployed five breakers, fifteen labourers, and one gas cutter to dismantle the illegal structure. The operation was overseen by Assistant Commissioner Uttam Kharat, Junior Engineer Pravin Vishe, CIDCO officials, municipal staff, and a police unit.

Meanwhile, in Koparkhairane, the NMMC acted against another unauthorised building behind Kukreja Ruby, Sector 12D, Ramnagar, Bonkode, associated with Shalik Halliya Naik. A notice had been issued in December under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, and a partial demolition had been carried out previously. This recent operation involved nine labourers, three electronic hammers, a pickup van, and two gas cutters, with Assistant Commissioner Bharat Dhandhe, Junior Engineer Chandrakant Dhotre, civic officials, and police personnel present.

The NMMC confirmed that its anti-encroachment department will continue intensified drives against unauthorised constructions across the city. Officials stressed that the combined deployment of civic and police staff ensures smooth execution of such operations, which are part of ongoing efforts to maintain planned urban development and enforce statutory compliance.
