September 13, 2025: Navi Mumbai is set to make its mark on the global tourism map with the development of its first international marina at Belapur Sector 15. The project, designed to strengthen marine tourism and create fresh economic prospects, is being executed by Navi Mumbai International Marina Pvt. Ltd. under the supervision of the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB).
According to senior officials, the project has received all statutory approvals, and construction work is progressing at pace. “The Navi Mumbai International Marina project will significantly boost marine tourism in the region,” an MMB representative confirmed.
The initiative is listed among the Chief Minister’s progressive projects and is expected to draw both domestic and international visitors. Once completed, the marina will offer advanced infrastructure, modern amenities, and dedicated facilities for water sports and leisure activities. Authorities emphasise that such infrastructure will not only enhance the recreational appeal of the city but also provide training and exposure for athletes aspiring to compete at international levels.
Beyond tourism, the marina is anticipated to play a vital role in strengthening Navi Mumbai’s blue economy. Officials say it will create new employment opportunities, encourage entrepreneurship in the marine sector, and directly benefit the local youth by opening pathways into emerging industries.
Experts further suggest that the marina will redefine Navi Mumbai’s identity by positioning it as a hub for both marine sports and maritime commerce. The project, they argue, will not only elevate the city’s profile across Maharashtra but also establish a distinct international presence.
With construction advancing steadily, the marina stands poised to become a landmark development—transforming Belapur into a vibrant centre of tourism, sport, and economic growth for the wider region.
