September 16, 2025: The challenges and future strategy of the city’s redevelopment were the focus of a conference held at the Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium in Vashi. The event was jointly organised by Sahakar Bharati, Vikas India Trust and the Navi Mumbai Housing Federation.
Belapur MLA Manda Mhatre, along with several dignitaries, addressed the gathering. Vikas Patil underlined the hurdles faced by the city and stressed the need for a structured and well-planned approach to redevelopment. Satish Marathe, director of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), highlighted financing concerns within the housing sector and urged the government to adopt stronger support measures.
Sahakar Bharati’s General Secretary, Vivek Jugade, cautioned housing society members against being swayed by short-term incentives during redevelopment talks, encouraging them instead to secure long-term benefits. MLA Mhatre assured citizens she was pursuing higher floor space index (FSI) approvals and urged societies to act prudently when selecting developers.
