September 20, 2025: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed officials to prioritise infrastructure development in 14 villages recently brought under the jurisdiction of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).
At a review meeting, Shinde emphasised the need to speed up the transfer of administrative responsibilities to ensure smoother integration of these villages into the civic framework. He noted that rapid improvements in basic amenities were essential for balanced urban growth.
The state’s 2025-26 budget has earmarked Rs 19.70 crore for works in the newly incorporated areas. The funds will be directed towards upgrading schools, strengthening healthcare facilities, and improving key services such as roads and water supply.
In a bid to enhance community welfare, Shinde proposed the establishment of a new hospital at Navali and the beautification of a lake in Vaklan. These measures, he said, would not only improve quality of life for residents but also support the long-term development vision for Navi Mumbai.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including NMMC Commissioner Kailas Shinde and Additional Chief Secretary Govindraj, who assured that work would be carried out in line with the Deputy Chief Minister’s directives.
