September 24, 2025: The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd. (MMMOCL) on Wednesday announced temporary adjustments to services on Metro Line 2A (Yellow Line) and Line 7 (Red Line).
In a statement shared on X, the corporation said: “Due to an operational adjustment, services have been temporarily modified for some time.” It added that passenger safety and convenience remain the top priority.
According to the update, services on Line 2A continued without disruption between Andheri West and Dahisar East. However, a short-loop service was introduced between Gundavali and Aarey on both corridors. In addition, single-line operations were implemented between Ovaripada and Aarey, with trains operating in both directions on the same track.
MMMOCL currently operates 317 services across the two corridors from Monday to Friday, maintaining a headway of 5 minutes 50 seconds during peak hours and 9 minutes 30 seconds during non-peak hours. At weekends, the frequency reduces to 256 services, with trains running every 8 minutes 6 seconds during peak hours and 10 minutes 25 seconds during off-peak periods.
Earlier this month, on 17 September, Lines 2A and 7 registered their highest-ever combined daily ridership of 340,571 passengers, marking a new milestone since their launch. Celebrating the achievement, the operator stated on social media: “Thank you, Mumbai, for making Maha Mumbai Metro your preferred choice. We’re proud to move with you, every day.”
Laid parallel to the congested Western Express Highway and SV Road, the two metro lines have emerged as a dependable alternative for Mumbaikars. Designed to ease pressure on the city’s suburban railway network while enhancing east-west connectivity, they have quickly established themselves as a crucial component of Mumbai’s urban transport infrastructure.
