September 27, 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday, September 25, inaugurated the new Sanpada Police Station in Navi Mumbai. The four-storey facility, developed by the Maharashtra Housing Cooperative Society, comprises around 40 rooms, specialised conference areas, and secure document storage. To encourage renewable energy use, solar panels have also been installed.
During the inauguration, three other police stations in Navi Mumbai—Vashi, CBD Belapur, and Panvel Taluka—were awarded ISO certification. Certificates were presented by the Chief Minister to Senior Police Inspectors Shashikant Chandekar, Arun Pawar, and Gajanan Ghadge in recognition of their respective stations’ compliance with internal cybersecurity and document protection standards.
Vashi Police Station, in particular, was acknowledged for its professionalism and efficiency in handling complaints, especially those concerning women. Officials highlighted the station’s use of modern policing techniques to prevent crime and ensure the swift apprehension of offenders.
In addition to the inauguration, Fadnavis launched a dedicated Cyber and Financial Crimes (Cy-Fi) investigation unit and introduced the e-Samvad online communication service for the public. Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate is now the first in Maharashtra to host such advanced facilities at the police station level.
The Cy-Fi unit has been set up to focus specifically on financial fraud and cybercrime, providing the police with the capacity to deal with increasingly complex digital offences. Meanwhile, the e-Samvad platform allows citizens to communicate directly with the police online, reducing the need for physical visits and thereby increasing accessibility and efficiency.
Officials said the measures mark a significant step in modernising policing standards in Navi Mumbai, combining infrastructure upgrades with technological innovation to enhance public safety and citizen engagement.
