October 04, 2025: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that the six-lane flyover under the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project, stretching between Dindoshi Court and Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari, is progressing rapidly and is set to open for traffic by May 16, 2026.
Of the 31 piers required for the 1,265-metre structure, 27 have already been completed, while work on the remaining four at Ratnagiri Junction is underway. The BMC will soon begin girder launching, deck slab casting, and approach road construction.
Phase 3(A) of the GMLR project includes the construction of this flyover and an elevated rotary. The alignment begins at Dindoshi Court, takes a 90-degree curve at Ratnagiri Junction, and descends at Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari. Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijeet Bangar recently reviewed the progress at BMC headquarters.
A senior bridge department official said, “The flyover consists of a total of 31 piers, which form the construction segment spans. Out of 26 spans, work on 12 spans has been completed, with the remaining 14 spans scheduled for completion by February 15, 2026. So far, 27 piers have been erected, and construction of the remaining 4 piers at the Ratnagiri Junction curve is progressing steadily.”
The structure is being built using box girders and reinforced concrete, and will also feature a pedestrian bridge with escalators. Approach roads on the Dindoshi side are expected to be finished by January 31, 2026, while those at Chitranagari will be completed by April 30, 2026.
The 12.2-km GMLR project, costing Rs 14,000 crore, will link the Western Express Highway in Goregaon with the Eastern Express Highway in Mulund, reducing travel time from 75 minutes to just 25 minutes.
