Navi Mumbai Civic Body Launches Demolition Drive Against Illegal Construction In Ghansoli

October 14, 2025: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has intensified its action against unauthorised constructions, launching a demolition drive in the Ghansoli division earlier this week. Acting under the directives of Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde and the supervision of Additional Commissioner (2) Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr Kailas Gaikwad, the civic body’s encroachment department carried out the operation to remove an illegal structure built by homeowner Kushalchand Gaur.

The illegal construction, located at NG Grand Plaza, Room No. 502, Plot No. 09, Sector 11, Ghansoli, involved additional brickwork within the society premises. Authorities stated that the construction was undertaken without prior permission or occupancy certificate approval from NMMC. Despite being served a notice under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, the homeowner failed to comply and continued with the unauthorised extension.

In response, the NMMC demolished the illegal structure with the assistance of five workers and two trucks. Officials from the Ghansoli division, the encroachment department, and local police were present to ensure the smooth execution of the operation.

The civic body reiterated its firm stance against unauthorised constructions, stressing that it will continue to enforce strict measures to maintain lawful urban development in Navi Mumbai. Officials confirmed that similar drives will be conducted more frequently to deter violations and ensure adherence to approved building norms across the city.
