October 15, 2025: Ahead of Diwali 2025, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced the sale of 426 affordable flats for the extremely low-income (EWS) and low-income groups (LIG) across Mumbai. The civic body announced on October 15, confirming that the housing lottery process will be conducted between October 16 and November 21 through its official portal — bmchomes.mcgm.gov.in
According to the official schedule, online applications and payment submissions will open on October 16 at 10 am. The final date for submission and payment is set for November 14, with the final list of eligible applicants to be published on November 18 at 5 pm. The lottery draw will take place on November 20 at 5 pm, and the results — including names of successful and waitlisted applicants — will be available on November 21 at 5 pm.
The BMC stated that the information booklet and application pass will also be made available on the same portal from October 16. Eligible applicants are required to apply online under the Varil housing schemes.
This initiative aims to provide affordable housing options to economically weaker sections of the city, especially during the festive season when property demand traditionally peaks.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has announced plans to sell its most premium apartments priced at over Rs 7.5 crore in Crescent Tower, Tardeo, one of South Mumbai’s most upscale neighbourhoods. These luxury flats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis ahead of Diwali 2025, according to a Hindustan Times report.
