Lokhandwala Residents Raise Safety Concerns Over Metro Line 6 Construction

November 22, 2025: Residents of Lokhandwala have expressed serious concern over the ongoing construction of Mumbai Metro Pink Line 6, saying the stretch of road over the Mogra nullah leading to a premium residential society has become dangerously uneven and accident-prone. They allege that the slow pace of work has kept two lanes closed for over a year, causing daily traffic congestion.

The elevated Metro Line 6, which will connect Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli, passes through Swami Samarth Nagar, Infinity Mall, and then heads toward JVLR.

On October 30, the Andheri Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizens Association (LOCA) highlighted the issue of potholes and uneven surfaces at P Tandon Marg near the bridge over the Mogra nullah. In an X post, LOCA said, “Mogra nullah Bridge. P Tandon Marg, Andheri West. The bridge was shut partially for Line 6. Massive potholes are causing traffic build-up and vehicle damage. No traffic marshals. Your local team is paying no attention.”

Residents allege that despite tagging agencies on X, no corrective action has been taken, reflecting administrative failure and disregard for public safety.

Actor Kashmera Shah said, “I would like to draw MMRDA’s attention to the dangerous condition of the road right outside our building. The ongoing Metro Line 6 bridge construction has already reduced the width of this stretch for over two years, and the newly formed large potholes have made it even more unsafe. These potholes are obstructing traffic flow, damaging vehicles and posing a serious risk to two-wheeler riders. I request that MMRDA take prompt action and repair this portion of the road at the earliest to ensure safe and smooth movement for all commuters.”

Indian television actor Shikha Singh Shah added, “For over a year now, the Metro Line 6 bridge construction has significantly narrowed the road outside our building. Heavy traffic pile-ups, frequent near misses, and large potholes are not just a challenge for us at Runwal Elegante but a safety hazard for the general public. We sincerely urge the authorities to take prompt action and repair the road at the earliest to prevent ongoing inconvenience and ensure safer, smoother movement for everyone.”

Originally a two-plus-two lane bridge, one side has been closed for over a year due to girder launching work, with locals demanding swift completion and resurfacing to reopen both lanes.
