November 29, 2025: Palghar district collector Indu Rani Jakhar conducted an extensive inspection of the ongoing Mumbai–Vadodara Expressway construction, calling for faster progress on the strategically important infrastructure corridor. The review was held on Thursday and included Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh, Assistant District Collector, and Dahanu Project Officer Vishal Khatri, along with senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (Thane division), according to an official release.
Jakhar examined the status of the project and sought detailed updates on construction milestones, security deployment across work zones, and the alternative traffic arrangements created to reduce inconvenience to commuters. She instructed officials to enhance interdepartmental coordination and strictly adhere to safety protocols throughout the construction period. Stressing the significance of completing the expressway at the earliest, she noted that the corridor would serve as an essential connector, boosting regional mobility and supporting economic development.
The Mumbai–Vadodara Expressway, a major greenfield project under the NHAI, forms a key segment of the larger 1,350-km Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, one of India’s most ambitious roadway infrastructure initiatives.
Following the site visit, Jakhar made a surprise inspection at the Government Ashram School for Girls in Varwada. She interacted with students and reviewed the school’s facilities, inspecting classrooms, accommodation, sanitation, food quality, and security arrangements. She directed the concerned departments to immediately address any gaps identified during the review.
Addressing officials, Jakhar said, “Upgrading educational facilities and accelerating the pace of key infrastructure projects remain the top priorities of the district administration.” She added that the administration will continue regular field inspections to ensure effective implementation of both development and welfare initiatives.
