December 6, 2025: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is preparing to invite tenders for the much-anticipated Metro Line 10 by December 15, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced. The 9.718 km elevated corridor, estimated to cost ₹8,000 crore, will link Gaimukh in Thane with Shivaji Chowk in Mira-Bhayandar, enhancing connectivity across a growing residential and commercial belt.
The proposed line will include five stations—Gaimukh Reti Bandar, Chena Village, Varsava Village, Kashimira, and Miragaon—designed to improve mobility for daily commuters and strengthen links between major neighbourhoods. As the alignment passes through forest patches, hill slopes, and ghat sections, the project will require several environmental and engineering clearances before construction begins. Officials noted that the technical design must ensure smooth track curvature and maintain a minimum clearance of 6.5 metres above existing roads, which will require precise adjustments to the terrain to uphold safety and operational standards.
Metro Line 10 will integrate seamlessly with the broader metro network. At Gaimukh, commuters will get an interchange with Metro Line 4A, while an additional interchange will be available at Miragaon with Metro Line 9. The corridor will also be supported by a new depot planned at Mogharpada, essential for maintenance, stabling, and overall operations.
Once operational, the route is expected to ease heavy vehicular load on Ghodbunder Road and other overburdened links between Thane and Mira-Bhayandar. The project is anticipated to take about three years to complete after construction begins, with a targeted launch around 2030. Urban transport experts believe the new line will offer faster, smoother, and more dependable connectivity, bringing major relief to thousands of commuters who currently rely on congested road networks.
