Badlapur Station Upgrade Gains Momentum With New FOBs And Elevated Deck Works

December 18, 2025: Infrastructure upgrades at Badlapur railway station are progressing steadily, with the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) advancing multiple projects aimed at improving commuter safety, easing passenger movement, and supporting the proposed 3rd and 4th railway lines between Kalyan and Badlapur, according to an official statement.

Several key facilities have already been commissioned to regulate passenger flow and curb trespassing. A 330-metre-long home platform was opened in February 2024, while a 6-metre-wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at the Karjat end, operational since December 2022, provides east–west connectivity across all platforms. In addition, two new 12-metre-wide FOBs were opened in March and June 2025, significantly improving circulation during peak hours.

Work is currently underway on an elevated deck that will link the two 12-metre-wide FOBs over platforms 1 and 2. A major section of this deck was commissioned in March 2025. Construction of the remaining portion began after the removal of the old middle FOB, the official statement said.

A major milestone was achieved during a six-hour night block between December 13 and 14, 2025, when MRVC successfully launched all 17 remaining girders for the elevated deck, including key cross girders. The operation involved 40 personnel, a 150-tonne crane, and two 15-tonne Faranas. Despite space constraints at the site, the work was completed safely and efficiently, the statement added.

Passenger amenities are also being enhanced across platforms. On Platform 1, four staircases and one escalator are operational, with plans for a lift and an additional escalator. Platform 2 currently has three staircases and two escalators, with a lift and another staircase planned. Platform 3 has three staircases in use, while two escalators are expected within 30–40 days, followed later by a lift and additional escalators.

Further improvements include a new booking office and public toilet at the Kalyan end of Platform 1, expected to be ready in six to seven months. MRVC also plans another 6-metre-wide FOB at the Kalyan end, integrated with public skywalks, along with a new skywalk, an elevated booking office, a station building, and a circulating area as part of the 3rd and 4th line works.

All ongoing works are targeted for completion within the next five to six months, with remaining projects aligned with the commissioning of the new railway lines.
