Andheri Traffic Diversions Announced As Flyover And Bridge Works Begin On Key Roads

January 6, 2026: Commuters in Andheri are set to experience traffic disruptions following the Mumbai Traffic Police’s announcement of temporary road closures on C. D. Barfiwala Road and Veera Desai Road due to ongoing infrastructure projects. The restrictions have been introduced to facilitate flyover pillar installation and the demolition and reconstruction of a bridge over the Mogra Nala, with diversions remaining in place until the respective works are completed.

On C. D. Barfiwala Road, the northbound carriageway between Tipu Sultan Junction and Gulmohar Junction has been closed to traffic to allow for the construction of flyover pillars. As a result, vehicles travelling in this direction will need to follow an alternate route. Commuters have been advised to take a left turn at Tipu Sultan Junction and proceed via Juhu Lane, Juned Nagar and Gulmohar Junction before continuing towards J.V.P.D. Road. Traffic authorities stated that these arrangements are temporary and will remain effective until the flyover pillar installation work is finished.

Meanwhile, a more extensive closure has been imposed on Veera Desai Road due to safety concerns surrounding the bridge over the Mogra Nala at Dhake Colony. The structure has been declared dilapidated and will be demolished and rebuilt. Consequently, the stretch of Veera Desai Road between Gopinath Munde Garden and Garden Court has been shut to all categories of vehicles.

To manage traffic flow, vehicles travelling on the southbound carriageway of Veera Desai Road are being diverted via Court Yard Junction, Chitrakoot Junction and New Link Road. Similarly, motorists approaching from J. P. Road are being redirected to New Link Road instead of Veera Desai Road, from where they can continue towards their destinations.

The Mumbai Traffic Police has urged commuters to plan their journeys, follow diversion signage, and cooperate with on-ground personnel to minimise congestion. These traffic arrangements will remain in force until the bridge demolition and reconstruction work over the Mogra Nala is fully completed.
