Allcargo Terminals Strengthens EXIM Trade Infrastructure With Major CFS Capacity Expansion Near JNPT

January 7, 2026: Allcargo Terminals Ltd has significantly expanded its container freight station (CFS) capacity near Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP) in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, nearly doubling annual handling capability from 1.9 lakh TEUs to 3.6 lakh TEUs. The expansion is aimed at strengthening India’s export-import (EXIM) trade infrastructure while supporting rising cargo volumes at the country’s busiest container port.

The company said the capacity augmentation aligns with its long-term growth strategy and reflects its commitment to enhancing logistics infrastructure critical to India’s trade ecosystem. The expansion is also a core element of Allcargo Terminals’ three-year strategic plan, which focuses on scaling operations, accelerating digitisation, and upgrading infrastructure across its nationwide network.

“Jawaharlal Nehru Port is one of the most critical gateways for India’s EXIM trade, and our capacity expansion here is both strategic and timely. By enhancing our yard space and warehousing infrastructure, we are strengthening our ability to handle increased cargo flows with precision and efficiency,” said Sunny Williams, Regional Head, West, Allcargo Terminals Ltd. He added that the company’s digital-first approach and robust facility network position it well to meet evolving customer needs while contributing to the region’s logistics ecosystem.

The upgraded CFS includes a 25 per cent increase in warehousing capacity, along with dedicated zones for handling special and over-dimensional cargo (ODC). The expanded yard is supported by RTG-enabled, tag-less operations, enabling the facility to efficiently manage the rising cargo volumes being handled by JNPT.

According to the company, the enhanced capacity will also support Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority’s ambition of becoming the first Indian port to handle 10 million TEUs by 2027. Proximity to the port allows faster cargo turnaround, while advanced safety and security systems improve service standards.

Digital tools such as the MyCFS app and smart yard management systems enable seamless, paperless workflows. “The capacity expansion addresses growing customer requirements and feedback. With increased yard and warehouse capacity, backed by Allcargo Terminals’ myCFS platform and yard management solutions, we are better positioned to handle higher volumes with improved planning, visibility, and execution,” said Venugopal Shetty, Facility Head, CFS JNPT, Allcargo Terminals Ltd.

Allcargo Terminals also operates another facility near JNP through its wholly owned subsidiary, Speedy Multimodes, and currently runs seven CFS and ICD facilities across ports in India.
