January 23, 2026: RMZ has entered into a strategic investment partnership with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) to facilitate up to USD 30 billion in infrastructure and real estate investments across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) over the next decade.
The collaboration was announced at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos. Under the arrangement, RMZ will provide support in investment structuring, capital mobilisation, master planning, project development, and long-term asset management across multiple asset classes in the region.
The partnership is aimed at accelerating foreign direct investment into urban, regional, and infrastructure-led projects and is expected to generate around three lakh direct and indirect jobs over the lifecycle of the developments. The investment programme will be implemented in phases over 10 years and will span multiple locations across the MMR, with a focus on large-scale, infrastructure-driven growth.
The scope of the partnership includes real estate, infrastructure, logistics parks, and data centres. RMZ will lead capital mobilisation and investment structuring, while MMRDA will facilitate land identification and aggregation and provide policy support and planning approvals. MMRDA will also assist with project approvals required under the partnership framework.
Separately, in collaboration with CIDCO, RMZ will develop data centre and commercial projects in Navi Mumbai, with work expected to commence in the financial year 2026–27. CIDCO will support land allotments, permissions, and statutory clearances in accordance with the Maharashtra government policies.
A CIDCO spokesperson said: “The partnership aligns with Maharashtra’s vision to attract large-scale technology-led infrastructure projects and support growing demand for data-driven services.”
Manoj Menda, Chairman – Supervisory Board, RMZ, said: “Large, long-duration investments require alignment, trust, and strong institutional frameworks. Maharashtra’s emphasis on planned development provides the foundation for such partnerships.”
Deepak Chhabria, President – RMZ Infrastructure, said: “Mumbai and surrounding regions are emerging as hubs in India’s digital infrastructure and data-driven economy. The partnership with MMRDA and CIDCO supports the next phase of expansion of our data centre and AI infrastructure.”
The partnership is structured to combine public-sector facilitation with private-sector capital to support long-term economic development across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
