Mumbai Water Supply Disruption: Bandra To See Full Shutdown On February 10; Extended Cuts In M East & M West Wards

Large parts of Mumbai are set to experience water supply disruptions this week as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) undertakes urgent repair work and major infrastructure upgrades. While several neighbourhoods in Bandra will face a complete shutdown on Tuesday, selected areas in the M East and M West wards will undergo a prolonged 30-hour suspension later in the week.

Complete Water Cut in Bandra on Tuesday

The civic body is carrying out repairs on a leaking 900-mm diameter water pipeline near the Qureshi Nagar slum in Kurla East. The work is scheduled between 10 am and midnight on Tuesday, resulting in a 14-hour suspension of water supply in large parts of the H West ward, which includes Bandra. Several localities will face a complete shutdown, while others will receive water at low pressure.

Areas expected to be fully affected include Hill Road, Perry Road, Manuel Gonsalves Road, St Andrews Road, St Paul Road, Carter Road, Pali Village, Chimbai Village, Shirley Village and Kantwadi in Bandra West. Khar Danda, Koliwada, Dandpada, Chui Gaothan, Gazdarbandh slum and parts of Khar West will also be impacted. Additional localities such as Hanuman Nagar slum, Laxmi Nagar, Union Park Roads 1 to 4, Pali Hill and adjoining roads will face supply disruptions.

Some stretches from the end of Hill Road up to Taj Lands End, along with BJ Road, HK Bhabha Road and Kane Road, will receive water at low pressure between 1 am and 4 am.

30-Hour Shutdown in M East and M West Wards

As part of a major upgrade, water supply will be completely suspended in select areas of the M East and M West wards from 2 am on Thursday until 8 am on Friday. During this period, the BMC will install a 1200-mm sluice valve at the Turbhe low-level reservoir and link the inlet pipeline to the AMT-II tunnel shaft. Several residential colonies, industrial areas and MHADA buildings across both wards will be affected.

Civic Advisory

The BMC has advised residents to store sufficient water in advance, use it sparingly during the disruption and boil and filter drinking water as a precaution. Citizens have also been urged to cooperate with civic authorities while the essential repair and upgrade works are carried out.
