The SBI Mumbai Metro Circle has committed Rs 2.1 crore towards strengthening healthcare services and community-focused infrastructure across Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The funding supports a range of projects aimed at improving emergency healthcare, public sanitation and access to safe drinking water.
The CSR contributions include the donation of a cardiac ambulance, medical equipment for public health facilities, sanitary pad incinerators in schools and reverse osmosis (RO) water purifiers. The initiatives were formally presented by SBI Chairman C S Setty in the presence of Manju Sharma, Chief General Manager, SBI Mumbai Metro Circle, along with senior officials of the bank.
As part of the healthcare-focused interventions, SBI Mumbai Metro Circle donated a cardiac ambulance valued at Rs 26.49 lakh to Matoshree Gangubai Sambhaji Shinde Hospital in Thane. The addition is expected to enhance emergency response capabilities and provide critical care access for economically weaker sections of society.
In a significant push to improve healthcare delivery in tribal regions, medical equipment and diagnostic kits worth Rs 73.80 lakh were supplied to six Primary Health Centres under the District Health Officer, Zilla Parishad Palghar. These facilities, located across Wada, Vasai, Dahanu, Jawahar, Mokhada and Saphale tehsils, will use the equipment to conduct testing for sickle cell anemia and beta thalassemia.
The bank has also focused on improving basic amenities in government schools. RO water purifiers and coolers costing Rs 73.75 lakh were installed in 100 Zilla Parishad schools across Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts, ensuring access to safe drinking water for students. In addition, sanitary pad incinerators were installed in 46 schools at an expenditure of Rs 37.54 lakh, supporting better hygiene practices and menstrual health awareness.
According to SBI officials, these initiatives reflect the bank’s continued emphasis on structured CSR programmes that support healthcare access, education infrastructure and community well-being, while aligning social development efforts with long-term sustainability goals.
