The Western Railway announced on Thursday that the North Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Naigaon railway station will remain closed for 45 days starting February 14, 2026. The FOB connects Platform 1 with Platforms 2 and 3, and the closure is necessary to carry out construction and extension work of foot over bridges and platforms at the station.
During this period, passengers can use the station’s remaining three FOBs, along with the subway facility, to move between platforms. Railway officials advised commuters to plan their travel accordingly and expressed regret for the inconvenience, noting that the work is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing passenger facilities at Naigaon station.
Meanwhile, Vasai Road railway station has received two major upgrades in the past month under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP)-3A. A new 6-metre-wide, 42-metre-long FOB connecting the east circulating area to island platforms 4-5 and 6-7 has been opened for public use, with staircases on the eastern side now operational.
Additionally, a 50-metre-long, 10-metre-wide portion of an elevated deck, part of a planned 250-metre structure, has been completed. Earlier, a 60-metre section of this deck had opened in December 2025. Officials said these new facilities will ease congestion and improve passenger movement at the busy suburban station.
MRVC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Sunil Udasi, stated, “The commissioning of the new structures marks an important step in strengthening passenger infrastructure on the Western suburban corridor. Despite the challenges of working in a highly crowded railway section, MRVC is moving forward in a planned manner to improve commuter convenience while ensuring train services continue without disruption.”
MRVC confirmed its commitment to completing the remaining work within the scheduled timeframe, aiming to provide modern, commuter-friendly infrastructure under the MUTP-3A project, improving both vertical and horizontal circulation for passengers.
