SCLR Extension To LBS Road Enhances Connectivity To Phoenix Marketcity Mumbai

Access to Phoenix Marketcity Mumbai has improved significantly following the opening of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) extension connecting directly to LBS Road. The newly operational stretch has streamlined travel to Kurla and nearby areas by providing a largely signal-free corridor, helping commuters bypass several congestion-prone junctions that earlier slowed east-west movement across the city.

The extended link has reduced travel time from western suburbs such as Bandra, Khar, Santacruz and Andheri, while also strengthening connectivity from the LBS Road belt. For daily commuters and visitors, the improved road infrastructure has helped minimise peak-hour bottlenecks, particularly around Kurla and adjoining intersections that previously experienced heavy traffic.

The smoother approach has made trips to the mall more predictable and less time-consuming. With fewer diversions and traffic signals, visitors can now reach the destination with greater ease, especially during weekends and festive periods when footfall is typically high.

Operational since 2011, Phoenix Marketcity Mumbai spans approximately 2.1 million square feet and attracts over 1.5 million visitors annually. It remains one of the city’s largest retail and entertainment destinations, featuring a blend of international and domestic brands, multiplexes, family entertainment centres and a wide range of dining outlets.

The complex is also home to Dublin Square, a prominent indoor concert venue that has hosted performances by globally and nationally recognised artists over the years. The venue has established itself as a regular hub for large-format indoor events in Mumbai.

Urban planners note that east-west connectors such as the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road are crucial for easing pressure on suburban rail networks and arterial roads. The latest extension further strengthens this mobility network, improving connectivity between Mumbai’s western suburbs and key commercial districts.
