Ultra-Fast EV Charging Station Opens On Mumbai–Nashik Highway

A new ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging station has been launched on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway near Igatpuri, Maharashtra, aiming to improve long-distance EV travel in the region. Situated at Food Hills, the facility is equipped with a 360kW star charge power unit and two dynamic load-balancing dispensers that manage power distribution efficiently, helping reduce waiting times for EV users.

The station features dedicated charging bays for specific EV models, while remaining accessible to all other electric vehicles. It also supports app-based navigation and payment systems, allowing users to locate the station, check availability, and complete transactions seamlessly. The dynamic load-balancing mechanism allocates available power between dispensers based on demand, providing faster and more efficient charging compared to traditional fixed-output units.

Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, emphasized the significance of the station in expanding the EV charging network across the country. “The new 360kW station on the Mumbai–Nashik Highway is the first step in delivering a world-class charging experience across India,” she said.

Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of ChargeZone, highlighted the impact of the facility on long-distance EV travel. “As EV adoption accelerates, our priority is to ensure that long-distance travel becomes fast, seamless, and predictable,” he said.

This station marks the first co-branded charging point under the 2025 Memorandum of Understanding between the partners. Additional stations are planned for 2026, although specific locations and timelines have not been revealed. ChargeZone currently operates over 13,500 charging points across more than 1,200 sites in India and the UAE, reflecting its ongoing commitment to supporting EV infrastructure expansion.
