Suresh Mhatre has outlined several initiatives aimed at improving railway connectivity and passenger facilities in the Bhiwandi region, including progress on the proposed Kalyan–Murbad railway line.
Addressing a press conference, the MP said land acquisition for the project is expected to cost around Rs 1,400 crore. According to him, Ashwini Vaishnaw has informed him that both the central government and the Government of Maharashtra support the project. He added that discussions have also taken place with the Chief Minister to move the proposal forward.
The MP also highlighted improvements in rail connectivity for commuters travelling through Bhiwandi Road railway station. He said he had requested the Railway Ministry to introduce halts for long-distance trains at the station.
Following this request, three out of seven long-distance trains passing along the Diva–Vasai railway corridor will now stop at Bhiwandi Road station, which is expected to benefit passengers from nearby areas.
In addition, the MP raised concerns about passenger amenities and administrative delays at Badlapur railway station. He said the Railway Minister has assured that senior officials will soon be appointed to address pending issues.
MP Mhatre said he plans to hold meetings with railway authorities to resolve commuter-related concerns at stations including Badlapur, Asangaon, Vashind and Bhiwandi Road, with the aim of improving facilities and services for daily passengers.
