Veteran Actress Sudha Chandran Flags Mumbai Traffic Woes, Urges BMC To Fix Roads

Veteran actress Sudha Chandran has raised concerns over worsening traffic conditions in Mumbai, attributing the issue to ongoing roadwork and poorly maintained stretches. Taking to social media, she highlighted how incomplete infrastructure projects are leading to severe congestion across the city.

The actress recently found herself caught in a traffic jam for nearly 20–25 minutes while travelling towards Madh Island for a shoot. The delay, she said, was caused by multiple dug-up and uneven road sections undergoing construction, which slowed vehicular movement significantly.

Sharing her experience in a video, she said, “I am going to Madh Island, and the roads here are dug up so badly that I have been stuck in traffic for the last 25 minutes. How will we go to work? Please repair these roads so that we can reach our workplace on time.”

She further added, “We don’t want producers to bear losses because we are not reaching on time.”

Appeal for Better Planning

Chandran also urged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to improve planning and execution of roadwork to minimise disruptions for daily commuters and professionals. Her remarks reflect a growing frustration among residents over prolonged construction and inadequate road conditions.

Celebrities Voice Similar Concerns

In recent months, several public figures have spoken out about Mumbai’s deteriorating road infrastructure. Celebrities such as Pooja Bhatt, Varun Grover, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Richa Chadha, and Dia Mirza have also criticised civic authorities over delays in road repairs and construction work.

A Long-Standing Issue

Mumbai’s traffic congestion, worsened by infrastructure projects, continues to impact daily life and work schedules. Chandran’s appeal underscores the urgent need for timely completion of roadworks to ensure smoother commutes and minimise disruptions across the city.
