Mumbai Metro Line 9 To Improve Mira-Bhayandar Connectivity In April

A crucial segment of Mumbai Metro Line 9 connecting Kashigaon and Dahisar is expected to be inaugurated in April, though final approval from the Government of Maharashtra is still pending.

Officials from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority confirmed that the 4.5-km elevated corridor has completed trial runs and received the necessary safety clearances. However, the exact date for the launch has not yet been officially announced. The inauguration is likely to be attended by Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar.

Metro Line 9 serves as an extension of Mumbai Metro Line 7, which currently operates between Dahisar and Gundavli. Once operational, the new stretch will enable commuters from Mira Road and surrounding areas to travel directly to Gundavli without changing trains, creating a seamless link between the northern suburbs and Andheri East.

The Phase I section will include four stations—Dahisar (East), Pandurang Wadi, Miragaon, and Kashigaon—catering to residents of the rapidly developing Mira–Bhayandar region. Commuters can also interchange at Dahisar with Mumbai Metro Line 2A to reach Andheri West, which further connects to Mumbai Metro Line 1 at DN Nagar for onward travel to Versova and Ghatkopar.

In addition to the metro launch, the much-debated Golden Nest Junction Flyover is also expected to open. The event may further include the foundation ceremony for a Rs 1,016-crore pod taxi project at Bandra Kurla Complex and the launch of tunnel boring machines for the Thane Borivali Tunnel, an 11.8-km twin tunnel aimed at cutting travel time between the two locations to around 15 minutes.
