Navi Mumbai Plans Mega Sports Complex, Rs 40 Crore Allocated

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has allocated Rs 40 crore towards the development of a proposed sports complex in Ghansoli Sector 13, giving a significant push to the city’s sporting infrastructure plans. The project will be developed on a 36-acre land parcel owned by the civic body.

Officials estimate that the total cost of the sports complex, including an indoor stadium and surrounding infrastructure, could reach approximately Rs 1,500 crore. The project has already secured environmental clearance from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority under coastal regulatory norms.

In terms of planning, the town planning department of the civic body has approved the layout for the project on plot number 1, and a detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared. Authorities aim to complete the entire development within a three-year timeframe.

The City Centre of the Indian Institute of Architects has also extended support to enhance the project’s design quality. Former chairman Kaushal Jadia welcomed the move and said, “Our association is ready to provide all types of assistance to the NMMC for the sports complex. The DPR is ready but the NMMC should put in their best effort to have top-notch designs from across India. Many welcome this first step towards budget allocation for the sports complex.”

The announcement has generated interest among local residents and property buyers, who see the project as a value addition to the area.

Ghansoli resident Sandeep Latambale expressed optimism about the development, stating, “We had purchased our flat keeping in mind the upcoming sports complex. The aspirations of our children to get the best sporting infrastructure at our doorstep will be fulfilled.”

The civic body expects that the project will not only enhance sports facilities but also encourage greater participation among aspiring athletes in the region.
