In a significant attempt to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has hired contractors for key road infrastructure projects in Mumbai and Thane. These projects include constructing and widening nearly 50 km of highways, which will solve the region’s important transportation needs. With a combined total road length of more than 50 kilometres, these projects are expected to significantly improve the region’s transport infrastructure.
The MMRDA remains committed to completing these projects with high levels of safety and efficiency, resulting in better commutes for all Mumbai and Thane residents. Afcons acquired the creek bridge and road from Kasarvadavli to Kharbao, Bhiwandi for Rs 1,525.31 crore, as well as the elevated road from NH-4 (Old) to Katai Naka for Rs 1,981.17 crore.
In April, Afcons and Sam India Builtwell JV reached a critical milestone when its tunnel boring machine (TBM) made its first breakthrough at RBS College station for Corridor I of the Agra Metro Phase I, which spans 14.25 kilometres.
In June, it was named the lowest bidder (L1) for a tunnel project in Thane. The project’s goal is to improve regional connections and infrastructure, which will mark a significant step forward in urban growth and transportation. The proposal procedure was competitive, with Afcons Infrastructure exhibiting both competitive pricing and technical expertise in tunnel building. The company’s decision demonstrates its dedication to providing high-quality infrastructure solutions that address the region’s expanding transportation needs.
