Cluster redevelopment is now mandatory for all Mhada layouts across Mumbai, the Konkan, Nashik, and Pune.
The state housing division on Thursday issued a GR that disallows issuing of no-objection certificates for the redevelopment of standalone buildings constructed by Mhada. “Even as the government is considering cluster redevelopment, it has been receiving proposals for standalone buildings. Such redevelopment of a single building neither allows proper planning nor laying of civic infrastructure. Hence the government has decided on cluster redevelopment,” said the GR. “Henceforth, only cluster redevelopment projects will be granted sanction,” it added.
