Commuters Left Stranded As Dindoshi Metro Station Shuts Without Notice

September 25, 2025: Mumbai commuters faced severe inconvenience on Wednesday morning after Dindoshi Metro Station was abruptly closed, despite official announcements stating services were operational on a curtailed route of the city’s Metro network.

According to an update from the operator, trains on Metro Yellow Line 2A continued to run between Andheri West and Dahisar East, while Metro Red Line 7 maintained services between Gundavali and Ovaripada, with a single-line operation between Ovaripada and Aarey. Authorities also noted that trains were functioning on a short loop between Gundavali and Aarey.

However, passengers at Dindoshi reported that the station was shut without prior notice, leaving them stranded during the morning peak. Commuters complained that neither the security staff nor station management were able to provide clarity on the disruption or indicate when services would resume.

The lack of communication sparked confusion, with frustrated travellers highlighting the absence of alternative travel guidance at the station. Many urged metro authorities to strengthen real-time information systems and ensure better coordination between ground staff and the control centre.

Several passengers voiced concerns that such unplanned disruptions during rush hours not only delay journeys but also undermine confidence in the metro as a reliable mode of daily transport. “We rely on the metro to avoid traffic congestion, but without timely updates, we are left stranded with no option but to find expensive alternatives,” said one commuter.

Transport experts have emphasised the need for proactive communication, suggesting that mobile alerts, station announcements, and online updates be deployed more effectively during service interruptions.

Authorities are yet to clarify the reasons behind the station’s sudden closure. Commuters, meanwhile, are calling for stronger contingency measures to prevent such disruptions in the future.
