MPCB Launches ‘GreenMind AI’ To Simplify Environmental Compliance And Boost Transparency

November 12, 2025: The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has unveiled GreenMind AI, an artificial intelligence-powered virtual assistant aimed at making environmental governance more transparent, accessible, and efficient. Launched at MPCB’s Mumbai headquarters, the digital platform enables citizens to instantly access information about environmental norms, guidelines, and procedures in simple, easy-to-understand language — complete with verified, source-linked responses.

Developed by Axion Labs, the platform was introduced in the presence of MPCB chairman Siddhesh Kadam and member-secretary M Devendra Singh. It features a secure management dashboard that allows board officers to update documents, monitor citizen engagement, and track queries in real time.

Kadam said, “GreenMind AI represents a major step towards digital transparency and smart environmental governance. By combining artificial intelligence with regulatory data, MPCB aims to make environmental compliance easier and more accessible for every stakeholder.”

Singh added that the system bridges the information gap between citizens and the regulatory framework. “The launch marks a significant milestone in MPCB’s ongoing efforts to integrate advanced technology with environmental regulation,” he said.

The AI assistant will also serve as an internal support tool for MPCB officials, helping them cross-reference complex regulatory data, streamline decision-making, and accelerate file processing. By digitising and centralising regulatory information, the board aims to improve response efficiency and ensure consistency in the interpretation of environmental rules.

GreenMind AI comprises three key components — a public chatbot for citizens and industries, an internal AI portal for MPCB officers, and an administrative dashboard for managing updates and tracking public interactions.

Officials said the initiative marks a new phase in MPCB’s commitment to digital transformation, reinforcing Maharashtra’s leadership in sustainable and tech-driven environmental governance.
