Samruddhi Expressway To Connect Nagpur To Vadhvan Port, Transforming Travel And Trade Across Maharashtra

November 17, 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced that the Nagpur–Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway will soon be linked to the upcoming Vadhvan Port in Palghar district, a move expected to significantly enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and strengthen the state’s logistics network. According to media reports, the link will be established through a transit corridor from Igatpuri, located about 90 km from the under-construction port. The Chief Minister said, “The expressway will enhance connectivity and reduce travel time for commuters, while also boosting logistics capabilities in the region.”

The integration of the expressway with Vadhvan Port is seen as a major advantage for logistics operators and industries along the corridor. Fadnavis noted that businesses catering to domestic markets will gain new avenues for exports once the port becomes operational. Citing projections reported by The Times of India, he added, “Vadhvan Port is projected to have a capacity three times greater than the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, positioning it as a major global shipping hub.”

Approved project maps outline a defined route connecting the expressway directly to the port, with work expected to begin shortly. Fadnavis also spoke about the ongoing Shaktipeeth Project, which will create a direct link between Vidarbha and Goa. He highlighted Nagpur’s growing importance as a centre for aircraft maintenance and its strategic potential to emerge as a logistics capital due to its central location.

As Maharashtra accelerates infrastructure upgrades, the planned connectivity between the Samruddhi Expressway and Vadhvan Port is expected to reshape the movement of goods and people across the state. The development is positioned to stimulate economic activity, improve transport efficiency, and strengthen Maharashtra’s competitiveness in global trade. Fadnavis emphasised that the government remains committed to infrastructure projects that will create “smoother transportation and logistics operations across Maharashtra,” generating widespread benefits for multiple sectors.
