December 4, 2025: The Mumbai Metro Line 10 project is set to advance, with the state government confirming that the tendering process will begin by 15 December. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik announced the update on 2 December after a review meeting at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) headquarters.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Mira-Bhayander Commissioner Radha Binod Sharma and Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Ashwin Kumar Mudgal.
The proposed 9.7 km elevated corridor, estimated at Rs 8,000 crore, will run from Gaimukh in Thane to Shivaji Chowk in Mira-Bhayander. The alignment includes stops at Gaimukh Retibunder, Chena Gaon, Varsova Gaon, Kashimira and Miragaon before reaching its terminal station.
Authorities expect the new metro route to significantly ease congestion on Ghodbunder Road, a key arterial link used by thousands of daily commuters. Projections indicate that by 2031, more than 4.5 lakh passengers may use the line every day, improving connectivity to Mumbai and supporting the rapidly developing Mira-Bhayander region.
Line 10 will integrate with Mumbai’s expanding metro network through interchanges at Gaimukh on Line 4A and Miragaon on Line 9, enabling smoother travel across the metropolitan region. A supporting depot is planned at Mogharpada to handle maintenance and operational needs.
Clearances related to forest areas, mangrove patches, CRZ zones and wildlife permissions are currently in progress. Consultants have completed the tender documents, enabling the project to move into the bidding phase.
The state government aims to complete construction and open the corridor to passengers by 2030, marking a major step forward in improving regional mobility.
