Western Railway Opens Digital Lounge And Co-Working Hub At Mumbai Central Station

December 19, 2025: Western Railway has taken a significant step towards modernising passenger amenities with the launch of a digital lounge and co-working space at Mumbai Central railway station. The new facility aims to cater to the evolving needs of commuters, business travellers, and professionals who increasingly seek productive environments even while in transit.

Developed by the Commercial Department of Western Railway’s Mumbai Division, the lounge is operated by Ten11 Hospitality LLP under the INEJ Lounge brand. Spread across 1,712 square feet, the space has been thoughtfully designed to support flexible and efficient working. It offers high-speed WiFi connectivity, modular workstations, dedicated meeting and conference rooms, video conferencing zones, multiple charging points, and comfortable seating layouts. Passengers can use the facility to work on assignments, conduct meetings, or attend virtual calls while waiting for their trains.

In addition to work-focused infrastructure, the lounge also provides light self-service refreshments and upgraded washrooms, enhancing overall convenience and comfort for users. Railway officials said the initiative is primarily targeted at business travellers, remote workers, and professionals, reflecting a shift in passenger behaviour where waiting time at stations is increasingly viewed as an opportunity to remain productive.

From a revenue perspective, the project is expected to generate around ₹3.2 crore in non-fare income over five years. Based on passenger feedback and operational performance, Western Railway may consider introducing similar digital lounges at other major railway stations across the country.

The launch builds on Western Railway’s broader efforts to modernise key stations and upgrade passenger services. It also aligns with global trends that promote work-friendly transit infrastructure. By integrating technology, comfort, and convenience within a busy railway station, the digital lounge not only enhances the travel experience but also supports Western Railway’s strategy of diversifying revenue streams while meeting the changing expectations of today’s passengers.
