To ease the seasonal rush during the summer months, Central Railway has introduced a series of unreserved special train services connecting Diva and Chiplun. These tri-weekly services will operate from May 1 to June 7, offering additional capacity for passengers travelling along this busy Konkan corridor.
As per the schedule, train number 01159 (Diva–Chiplun MEMU special) will depart from Diva at 11:25 pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, reaching Chiplun at 6:30 am the following day. A total of 18 trips will be run in this direction.
For the return journey, train number 01160 (Chiplun–Diva MEMU special) will leave Chiplun at 3:30 pm on the same days and arrive at Diva by 11:10 pm. This service will also operate 18 trips, taking the total number of services on the route to 36.
The trains will halt at several important stations en route, including Nilaje, Taloja Panchanand, Kalamboli, Panvel, Somatane, Apta, Pen, Roha, Kolad, Mangaon, Khed and Anjani, among others, ensuring connectivity across key suburban and semi-urban nodes.
These services will be operated using 8-car MEMU rakes and will remain unreserved, allowing passengers to purchase tickets through the UTS system or the RailOne mobile application. Railway authorities have advised commuters to check the official enquiry portal or the NTES app for real-time updates and detailed timings.
The move is part of a broader national plan by Indian Railways to manage increased passenger demand during the summer season. Between April 15 and July 15, 2026, a total of 908 special trains will be operated across the country, accounting for over 18,000 trips.
Among various zones, Central Railway will handle the highest number of trips, followed by East Central and North Western Railways. Additional services have also been approved for zones such as South Central and Western Railway, ensuring wider network support during peak travel months.
